CHCM Collection Care 29.-2. August 2024

In July 2024, an international group of CHCM (Cultural Heritage Conservation Management) students from both Silpakorn University and Angewandte continued the inventory of the Shard Room.
The workstation set up in the Shard Room was used to take pictures of the objects and to examine and document the shards. In a first step, each individual shard was systematically cleaned and recorded in a database. Individual objects and groups could be identified on the basis of similarities in decorative techniques and motifs. This cataloguing represents the most important basis for further work. In addition to the art and cultural-historical classification of the objects, it helps to understand materials and manufacturing techniques as well as to analyse the state of preservation and damage phenomena
