As part of the FWF (Austrian Science Fund) PEEK Project “The Broken Collection,” the symposium “Noble Collections of Ceramics and their History beyond Fragmentation and Representation” brought together scholars, conservators, curators, and artists. Over two days, experts from institutions in Vienna and across Europe shared case studies and reflections on the conservation, interpretation, and artistic engagement with ceramics. Topics included aristocratic porcelain collections, restoration practices, object biographies, and approaches to fragmentation, with a particular focus on the transregional connections between the Broken Collection in Loosdorf and other European collections.
